A bit about Neil
“Art was always my love. I spent my youth with my head in colouring books, and won awards as a secondary school art student, so art college felt like anatural move. After my foundation course which, everyone should do, it’s abrilliant year of finding yourself (art student or not!) — I then went on tocomplete an Illustration degree at Portsmouth University, which paved theway for roles in the creative commercial sector and as an artist.”
A bit about Neil’s work
“Born through 'urban sketching', my fast and fluid style is all aboutrhythm and expression. My work is not about a photographic representation but a more original and artful take on the form andcolour of our towns and cities. Urbanism is pivotal to my inspiration. Architecture and historic structures carry all sorts of stories and talesthat can fuel my vivid imagination. I love the fusion of the modernage framed by listed buildings, historic shop fronts, archways andspires. I adore working with visual depth and sharp perspective andspend a lot of time photographing and physically framing views andvanishing points for the perfect scene. I work in pen and ink, watercolour and acrylic.”
